My Husband Finally Arrives In Macedonia

Dejan and my "god daughter" Bridget finally arrive in Macedonia! When I was last in Macedonia eight years ago, I hooked up Dejan's cousin, Anna and Bridget as pen pals (they are close to the same age). Their friendship has grown over the years so as part of Bridget's high school graduation present she was able to travel with us to Macedonia to visit Anna for the first time. Bridget and Anna joined us for dinner later this evening as they are preparing to leave for Albania tomorrow. A 10-day beach vacation near the Greek border. Bridget will turn 18 while they are there so I had to make sure Bridget had her first Macedonian beer, Skopsko (8% alcohol), with her favorite "Auntie" before leaving. I am sure her mother will thank me for that!

Even with only three hours of sleep Dejan is like a giddy child, so glad to be home after 6 years. His Mom had homemade bread and his favorite dish waiting on him. Add some Skopsko, rakija i.e. Macedonian moonshine, (which many drink daily with their morning coffee and consider medicinal) and a shower and he was ready to go. Oh, Bridget may have "tasted" the rakija too. (smile)
